Each circulating print item checked out from the library is stamped with the date the item is due to be returned to the library. Patrons are responsible for returning all borrowed items before closing time on the date due.
Embry-Riddle affiliates; students, faculty, and staff, as well as guest patrons such as alumni and community patrons are not charged overdue fines for regularly circulating books. However, for all patrons excluding Embry-Riddle faculty and staff, there are exceptions for high-demand items. Recalled items accrue fines at $2.50 per item per day and cap at $50.00. Reserve materials that are kept past the three-hour check-out period accrue fines at $.50 per item per hour or part of an hour and cap at $50.00. Additional fees may be levied at the discretion of the Library Director or the Associate Director for Access Services for egregious or habitual abuse of the loan periods that result in materials being unavailable for others during high-use times such as final exams.
All Hunt Library patrons, as listed above, are responsible for any item that is lost or damaged. Lost or damaged items will be billed at $75.00 per item.
A Courtesy Reminder notice is sent five days before an item is due. An Overdue Courtesy notice is sent two days after the due date and a follow-up reminder is sent ten days after the due date. Twenty days after the due date, the patron is sent a notice and is billed a $75.00 fee for the Lost item. Notices for items with shorter loan periods will be sent at appropriate intervals.
It is the responsibility of the borrower to keep track of due dates. Daytona Beach Embry-Riddle affiliated patrons can renew circulating print materials using My Library Account.
Circulating print materials must be returned to the book return outside the library or at the BORROW Desk to be properly discharged. The borrower is responsible for material lost due to improper return. Borrowing privileges may be suspended for students, faculty, and staff when $100.00 is owed in fees, if fifteen or more items become overdue, if recalled items are not returned promptly or other abuses occur.
Media equipment and items from the video/DVD collection must be returned to the BORROW Desk inside the library during regular library hours, not in a book drop. A $300.00 fee is charged for lost video cameras. A $75.00 fee is charged for lost videos or DVDs.
Reserve items must also be returned to the BORROW Desk inside the library and not in a book drop.
Daytona Beach patrons: Students, staff, and faculty may make payments (debit card only) at ERNIE Central, on the first floor of the Student Union, or online in Campus Solutions with their ERNIE account.
