Advocacy
Both students and faculty can play a role in advocating for open and affordable textbooks. Here are some ways that you can show your support.
- Faculty and staff, join the Open and Affordable Textbook Initiative Committee to provide insight and find solutions together. To join, contact Heather Crane at heather.crane@erau.edu.
- Students, speak to other students or faculty about the need for and impact of open and affordable textbooks.
- All, celebrate Open Education Week with us every year to learn more about developments in open, how to use open resources in your own work, and help honor faculty and staff dedicated to offering more open and affordable courses.
O&A Impact at ERAU
Since the start of the Open & Affordable Initiative in 2017, ERAU has saved students millions in textbook costs. The impact of the initiative is determined by tracking courses that have worked with the library or are self-reported by faculty using Open Educational Resources (OER) by completing our OER & Library Course Materials Form or contacting commons@erau.edu.
