Stay Connected: Hunt Library Update

Hunt Library Special Update — November 19, 2020

Hello Worldwide faculty and campus directors,

We’d like to update you on recent library initiatives.

Library webinar archive and upcoming spring series

Select recordings from the library's fall webinar series are archived in Scholarly Commons. Archived webinars can be assigned viewing or listed as supplemental viewing for students preparing for a large research project or capstone.

Our Spring 2021 series will run from January to March and will include a new session suggested in assessment results: The Research Paper Process. Webinars will soon be promoted on the library website, or simply email us for more information.

We have also considered our faculty audience with two sessions in January. Watch for these topics (or email us for more information): Publishing Made Easy through Scholarly Commons; Library Support for Online Teaching.

Library database changes

The library continually assesses database subscription costs according to usage, inflation, and budget constraints. Due to low usage and overlap with public libraries, we are cancelling Flipster (magazines) and NewsBank (newspapers) effective December 31.

The good news is that we were recently able to add over 200,000 interdisciplinary academic eBooks to our Ebook Central subscription, and we will be implementing an automated bookshelf account feature in the coming months. Additionally, we were able to add SciTech Premium Collection (in ProQuest) to our database collection, allowing for more full text journals in the natural sciences, engineering, and technology.

Guide to new materials

Our collection management staff have prepared a guide to spotlight new additions to the library’s collection.

This includes bookmarks, pencils, cell phone wallets, and post-it flags. To request items, simply complete our Marketing Materials request form.
